The 8th International Symposium of Advanced Glass was held in Shanghai on April 17th of 2018. The organizers of this symposium, secretary general of Chinese Ceramic Society Mr. Jin Zhanping, the president of China National Association for Glass Industry Mr. Meng Lingyan, the president of Shanghai Ceramic Society Mr. Song Lixing, the vice director of Glass & Enamel Research Institute of Dong Hua University Mr. Jiang Weizhong attended the symposium and made their addresses. The vice president of SCS, professor of Dong Hua University Mr. Ning Wei presided over the opening ceremony. More than 180 representatives from related academic societies, research institutes, universities, glass and accessorial enterprises, domestic and overseas honored guests, famous specialists and scholars attended the symposium.
The main subjects of the symposium were low carbon, energy conservation, environmental protection, utilization of solid waste and circular economy, etc. The hot point of the symposium was practical technology and focused on innovation and factualism. The senior fellow of NEG Group Mr. Li Hong, the chief technology officer of Prexair Mr. Shrikar Chakravarti, et al presented their specially invited reports. A total of 39 academic research reports involved 6 aspects of innovation and development of new technology in glass industry including sheet glass, glass fiber, glass wool, laser glass, quantum dot glass and electronic glass fields. At the symposium a deep discussion on the recent development of oxy-fuel combustion, all electric melting, electric boosting, desulfurization and denitration, energy conservation and emission reduction, etc. was conducted.
The symposium is regularly held every the other year, which is an authoritative academic symposium in domestic glass industry. It is usually held prior to the China International Industrial Technical Exhibition in order to provide an international academic communication platform to researchers, manufacturers and technicians for discussion on technical hot points, summarizing productive experience and demonstration of latest research achievements.
