1^st China Symposium on GD-MS / GD-OES sponsored by Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences and National Center For Inorganic Mass Spectrometry in Shanghai of National Platform of Science Instrument Centers was held at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences from Oct. 19–20^th, 2017. Over 100 representatives from research institutes, universities, enterprises and instrument manufacturers at home and abroad attended the symposium.

A total of 16 domestic and overseas invited specialists presented their splendid academic reports which involved the application of glow discharge mass spectroscopy and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry in frontier science and hot fields, such as development of instrument, analytical method and methodology applying, etc. The participants warmly discussed and expressed their intention on further mutual exchange and cooperation, promoting development of GD-MS / GD-OES and improving our research and application level in this field.
