The preparatory team for “2018 International Symposium on Advanced Glass Melting Technology” was founded by the furnace and equipment committee of SCS on May 12th, 2017 and its first meeting was convened.
The International Symposium on Advanced Glass Melting Technology is sponsored by SCS, Chinese Ceramic Society, Engineering Center of Advanced Glass Manufacturing Technology of Education Department in Donghua University and China National Association for Domestic Glass Industry. A total of 7 sessions of such symposiums have been successfully held. A total of over 200 persons from 11 countries including The United States, United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, France, Austria, Belgium, Japan, Australia, Iran and China attended the last session of symposium. The subjects were mainly practical technology, which contents were abundant and appropriate, with high operability and applicability. All the participants got a lot of benefits and good feelings. There were many advanced research reports presented by academicians and Cheung Kong Scholars. Moreover, communication and interexchange amongst the outstanding experts and technical personnel were conducted during the symposium.
At this preparatory meeting the organizer decided that the coming session of symposium will be held from April 16th to 18th, 2018 in Shanghai. The main subject will be “Low-carbon and energy conservation, utilization of solid waste and new technologies” that includes:
1. New technology of low-carbon and energy conservation, including glass composition, batch mixing, melting, forming, annealing, and so on;
2. New technology of low sulfur low nitrate melting, including all oxygen fuel combustion, reducing atmosphere melting, fully electric melting technology, desulfurization and denitrification, and so on;
3. New glass technology and products, including high performance glasses, special glasses, crystal glasses, quantum dot glasses, and so on;
4. Modern supporting materials and equipment, including new refractories, electrode materials, moulds and processing, combustion equipment, glass metal control and controlling equipment, temperature measurement apparatus, batch feeding system, and so on.
