“2009 International Symposium on Glass Melting Technology”, which was organized by The Chinese Ceramic Society, China National Association for Glass Industry, Shanghai Ceramic Society, and Material College of Dong Hua University, was held on May 11th in Shanghai. Over 180 participants including domestic participants and foreign participants coming from United States, United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, France, Austria, Belgium, Japan and Australia, etc. attended the opening ceremony of this symposium President of The Chinese Ceramic Society Mr. Zhang Renwei, Chairman of China National Association for Glass Industry Mr. Meng Lingde,

President of Shanghai Ceramic Association Mr. Song Lixin, Deputy Director of Donghua University Madam Zhu Meifang made their short speech, respectively. Following the opening ceremony several invented reports were presented by some famous companies, such as FIC, Electron, PPG, Praxair, Air Product. and some companies in China. They described the development of glass industry and expounded the energy resource and environmental protection, explained full-oxygen combustion technology, discussed the influences of electric melting technology on glass industry. This symposium lasted two days, and 28 technical reports were presented. After the symposium the participants were invited to visit “20th China International Glass Industrial Technical Exhibition” and attend the seminars in the Exhibition. (From SCS )
