Cerebration meeting for 60th anniversary of founding of SCS was held on Nov. 5th 2008 in Shanghai. Many famous specialists and leaders, such as Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, Honorary President of SCS Mr. Yan Dong-sheng, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Honorary President of SCS Mr. Guo Jingkun, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Research Fellow of Shanghai Institute of Optics & Fine Mechanics Chinese Academy of Sciences Mr. Jiang Zhonghong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Research Fellow of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences Mr. Jiang Dongliang, Vice President of Chinese Ceramic Society and Director of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences Mr. Luo Hongjie, Vice President of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology Mr. Hu Jialun, Secretary-General of Chinese Ceramic Society Mr. Jin Zhanping, Director of Academic Department of SAST Mr. Lin Wei, President of Shanghai Ceramics Association Mr. Song Lixin, Vice President of Chinese Cement Association Mr. Zhuge Peizhi, Honorary President of Shanghai Entrepreneuress Union Madam Zheng Lizhen, and President SCS Mr. Chen Lidong, as well as all the vice presidents, executive council members, council members, etc. attended this cerebration meeting. The leaders of each group member and a great number of individual members about 350 persons in all participated in this meeting.

The President of SCS Mr. Chen Lidong reviewed the history of development of SCS, and then Vice President of SAST, Mr. Hu Jialun and Secretary General of Chinese Ceramic Society Mr. Jin Zhanping made their speech. Honorary President of Shanghai Ceramic Society Mr. Yan Dongsheng also gave his congratulatory address and finally Academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences Mr. Jiang Dongliang and Mr. Jiang Zhonghong presented their specially invited papers titled “Several latest frontiers of advanced ceramics” and “New phenomena and new usage of laser in glass”, respectively. In the afternoon the seminars of each professional committee were held at 5 different conference rooms and 27 specialists gave their lectures and more than 240 persons attended those seminars.
