“2006 Annual Summary Conference” Held by SCS----Shanghai Ceramic Society

On Feb. 1st of 2007：the Conference on “2006 Annual Summary of SCS” was held. The whole members of Council and the directors of all the Professional Committees attended this meeting. The Vice President of Shanghai Science and Technology Association (SSTA) Mr. Hu Jialun and director of academic department of SSTA Mr. Lin wei were invited to participate this conference and make their presentations. The meeting was hosted by SCS President Prof. Chen lidong.

The Secretary General of SCS Mr. Zhang Shen presented his annual report on the summary conference of SCS. The main points of his report were as follows:

Preparing works for SCS founding 60 anniversary activities.

1.	Following the regulation of expiration election and in accordance with the requirements of Shanghai Association of Science & Technology and League Register Management Institution the 35 members of 8th Council of SCS were elected by vote and the new president and vice presidents of SCS were appointed by the first session of 8th Council. The average age of Council Members are 46 i.e. younger than last Council.
2.	In 2006 there were 6 professional committees of SCS that carried out expiration election and new directors of these committees were determined.
3.	Last year many academic activities were organized by SCS. For example:
	◆	The “Symposium on Shanghai Advanced Ceramic and Annual Meeting of SCS” was held in April and there were 74 academic reports presented to the symposium and a proceeding was published ahead to this symposium.
	◆	The “International Symposium on Glass Electric Melting Technology” was held in Dec. of last year. There were over 30 research papers presented to this symposium and 20 participants made their presentations.
	◆	The President and Secretary General of SCS were invited to attend “Korea-China-Japan Symposium on Research & Development of Fine Ceramics” by Ceramic Research Institute of South Korea and South Korea Association of Fine Ceramics. They made a beneficial exchange and friendship discussion with the directors of professional associations in South Korea and Japan and scientists and specialists from research institutes and enterprises in both countries.
	◆	A lot of foreign guests from many countries, such as Japan, Korea, Sweden, etc., were invited to visit SCS and related research institutes and universities in Shanghai.
4.	Some activities in 2007:
	◆	“China International Glass Industrial Technical Exhibition” is planned to be held on May the 16th to 19th in Shanghai;
	◆	“International Exhibition & Symposium on Advanced Ceramic Technology and Equipment” is arranged to be opened on Oct. 23rd.
	◆	SSI—16 International Symposium on July 1—6，in Shanghai.
	◆	Preparing works for SCS founding 60 anniversary activities.
