In order to further interchange with Shanghai relevant societies and associations and promote development of new materials in Yangtze River delta area, a special symposium, which was organized by Pinghu municipal government together with Shanghai science, technology and education departments, was held at Shanghai Hong Qiao Hotel on July 28th, 2006. About 100 representatives coming from universities, research institutes in Shanghai, representatives from Taiwan, and representatives from industrial associations attended this symposium. The Secretary General Mr. Zhang Shen was invited to attend this symposium.

This symposium was presided over by Deputy Mayer of Pinghu City Mr. Ma Xueteng. Secretary of Pinghu Municipal Party Committee, Vice Director of Shanghai Education Committee, Chairman of Shanghai Taiwan Business Association, and Vice Director of Science and Technology Department under the Zhejiang Province Government presented their presentations to this symposium. And then the directors of relevant departments of Pinghu Municipal Government introduce the general situation about textile, garment, optical and electromechanical products, bassinette, new sanitary ware, etc. to the audiences of the symposium, respectively. Shanghai Donghua University, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiaotong University, etc. signed their agreements with relevant enterprises and departments in Pinghu City for transferring technical achievements.

During the symposium the representatives of Pinghu Delegation discussed with Shanghai representatives. This symposium promoted mutual economic development, industrial exchange, transferring technical results and practical applications.
