The Chairman of International Solid Ion Society, Director of Osaka Municipal University Professor Minami paid a visit to Shanghai for investigation on preparation for “16th International Symposium on solid ion”(SSI-16). Professor Minami inspected the hotel, conference hall and relevant equipment for the Symposium and held a special meeting with secretariat of organizing committee of the Symposium to discuss the problems incurred during preparation for the Symposium and to find their solutions. Director of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences Prof.. Luo Hong-jie had an interview with Professor Minami on July 3rd, 2006. The Secretary General and working personnel of SCS and the leaders of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences took their active part in the reception for Professor Minami. The SCS will response on preparing something for this conference.

Before Professor Minami left from Shanghai he had expressed his great satisfaction for this visiting， although the whether was very hot and the time was very tight. He also expressed appreciation for the successful work of secretariat of organizing committee of the Symposium.
