The 8th Congress of SCS was held and re-election was carried out on May the 23rd of 2006. Vice chairman of Shanghai Science and Technology Association Mr. Hu Jialun, Vice Secretary General of Chinese Ceramic society Mr. Tan Fu, Academician, Honorary President Mr. Guo JIngkun, President of 7th Council of SCS Mr. Shi Jianlin as well as Vice President, Secretary General and other leaders of SCS attended this Congress. 94 representatives coming from various universities, research institutes and companies took part in this meeting.

The first part of this meeting, which main topic was summary of 7th council of SCS, was presided over by vice president of 7th council Mr. Zhuge Peizhi. Vice chairman of Shanghai Science and Technology Association Mr. Hu Jialun made a presentation first. A great expectation of him was presented for the future of SCS. The President Shi Jianlin delivered a working report on “Summarizing experience, developing the strong points and avoid the weak points, full of confidence and carrying on the past and opening a way for future”. Secretary General Zhang Shen presented a financial report to the Congress and Vice Present Zheng Jinbiao annotated the recommendation process for candidates of directors of 8th council. The meeting adopted these 4 items on the agenda unanimously.

The second part of this meeting was presided over by vice president of 7th council Mr. Xu Jun. The main item on the agenda of the second part of this meeting was to vote 8th council members. Mr. Wu Zhonghua was assigned as a general scrutineer by a show of hands. The new council was determined by harmonious, ordered, intense, demonstrative, and normative vote. The total representatives should be 112 persons and attended representatives were 94 persons. 35 candidates won more than 2/3 of total votes. The first meeting of 8th council was held and Mr. Chen Lidong was elected as new president, Mr. Wang Peiming, Zheng Jinbiao, Xu Jun, Zhuge Peizhi, Zhang Lin, Sun Jianan were nominated as vice presidents, and Mr. Zhang Shen was elected as secretary general of the 8th council of SCS.

After the first meeting of 8th council the new president, vice presidents, and secretary general paid their sincere respect to all the representatives. President Chen Lidong and Vice Secretary General of Chinese Ceramic Society Mr. Tan Fu make an ebullient speech by the end of this meeting.
