2006 Symposium on Advanced Ceramic Materials and Annual Meeting of Shanghai Ceramic Society was held in Shanghai on April 20th to 21st, 2006. About 120 participants from universities, research institutes and enterprises in Shanghai, Zhejiang and Shandong provinces attended this Symposium.

This Symposium was presided over by Vice President of Shanghai Ceramic Society Mr. Xu Jun. Just after his presentation Professor Wang Yongling from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences presented a research report “Induced Phase Transition of Functional Ceramics Properties & Application”; Professor Zhu Congshan from Shanghai Institute of Optics & Fine Mechanics Chinese Academy of Sciences presented his research report “Development and Prospects for Electronic and Photoelectronic Glass in China” and Japanese scientist from Misuii Mining Company, Limited also presented his recent research report. Some professors, such as Mr. Xu Jun, Ren Guohao, Ning Wei, Guo Shouwu, were invited to report their research results on laser crystal materials, scintillating crystal materials, nano-materials, and application of electric glass furnace. 74 abstracts of research papers on advanced ceramics were received and then compiled and filed ahead of this Symposium and 47 researchers exchanged their research and technical achievements. In particular, some research reports or abstracts which were presented by enterprises are very applicable and creatable, and very important for the future of those enterprises.
